Raw materials and resources are becoming scarce. Time to share them efficiently
Alternative approaches and changes in the mindset are required
Alternatively, a vehicle can be used more intensively together and replaced at shorter intervals.
Due to the more efficient use and the shorter downtimes, fewer vehicles and parking spaces are required. As a result, fewer and lower quantities are produced. This saves resources, less waste and creates the opportunity for coordinated disposal.
In addition, sharing can represent a higher price per unit. This should help to finance investments in innovations and smaller quantities.
However, it will be exciting to see how the industry will develop. If the sold pieces fall, there must inevitably be a transformation.
What opportunities does this create?
It would also be interesting to consider the extent to which a move away from mass production in low-cost countries to more agile nearshore production facilities with lower batch numbers would be possible and recycling of raw materials could take place more directly.
